Over the past few decades, Jim Ross has called some of the greatest professional wrestling matches to ever happen. Regardless of what comes in life, he would always grab his best black hat and put a headset on – but finally he found something that can take him off TV. Jim Ross is battling skin cancer, and has completed his first of twenty-two radiation treatments.
Jim Ross Is Keeping His Fans Up To Date
Taking to Twitter to keep his fans informed, Jim Ross would say the following and share a picture of the affected area. The skin cancer is mainly attacking one of his feet. “Radiation treatment #1 in the book. 21 treatments remaining. 🤠”
Skin cancer like any other form of the disease is hard to fight, but Ross is keeping a positive attitude. He’s tougher than a two dollar steak to take on this fight head on. He has confirmed he will be taking time off from AEW, but hopes to be back for Homecoming on December 29th in Jacksonville.
“Due to my skin cancer care totaling 22 radiation treatments starting Monday, I will hopefully return to the announce desk on December 29 in Jacksonville. Tony Khan supports me on this strategy which has been a blessing. My thanks for all your support.”
Will Need To Be Replaced On AEW Dynamite While Getting His Treatments
This will only affect AEW Dynamite, as that is the only show that Ross does commentary on weekly. Rampage, Dark & Dark: Elevation all don’t feature Good Ol’ JR. Thankfully for Dynamite AEW has a surplus of talented commentators. Options range from simply doing a two man booth with Excalibur & Tony Schiavone, to adding in Taz, Ricky Starks, Cody Rhodes, or Chris Jericho as needed. Even Don Callis is an option, as he has nothing much to do with Kenny Omega out and injured.
Fans will be counting down the days to when Jim Ross is back at the desk. Despite his occasional mess up, Ross brings a comfortable and nostalgic voice to the mix, as well as just a down to earth sense of realism. He’s been doing this for a very long time, and his style can’t be emulated.
We here at TheOvertimer wish Jim Ross all the best in his battle with cancer, and can’t wait to see him back in AEW. What are your favorite Jim Ross calls from his legendary career? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
