Bryan Danielson has been on a warpath through the Dark Order on his way to Hangman Page. He finally gets him next week, but there is one last stop tonight. John Silver was next to step up, and could be the next to get his head kicked in by The American Dragon. There’s been enough talk, Hangman will need to sit by and watch as another friend suffers thanks to him being the champion.

HOOK Debut Set For Rampage, Malakai Black Attacks Varsity Blondes

Ahead of this match, we’d get a big announcement from Taz – his son HOOK makes his debut on AEW Rampage as he takes on Fuego Del Sol. Other announced matches include Ruby Soho, Anna Jay & Tay Conti vs. Penelope Ford, The Bunny & Nyla Rose, as well as The Lucha Bros defending the AEW Tag Team Championships against FTR.

The Varsity Blondes would have an interview, but Malakai Black appeared and blinded Julia Hart with the black mist. Seems that they are his next target, now that his feud with Cody Rhodes has ended.

John Silver Could Be A Trap Match For Bryan Danielson

Danielson would get a bad reaction from the crowd, while hometown boy John Silver got the heroes welcome. They’d stare daggers as the bell rang. Danielson would grab the wrist of Silver to start, before having to counter out of a wrist lock from Silver. He’d be sent off the ropes, but took the hometown favorite down with a shoulder tackle. Silver would come back with one of his own, before blocking a single leg takedown into a big slam.

This was proving to be a trap match for Danielson, as Silver laid in those heavy mid kicks. Danielson would get an ankle pick after slipping out of the ring, and attack Silver using the apron. Some big uppercuts landed, before a diving knee drop to the neck of Silver. Back in the ring, Danielson kept the pace slow, choking Silver in the corner before taking time to soak in the negative reception of the crowd.

A shotgun dropkick took Silver off his feet, before some heavy strikes in the corner. Silver would counter the second shotgun dropkick into a powerbomb, before applying a heel hook in the middle of the ring! Danielson would find no safety on the outside, as Silver came off the apron with a rolling senton.

Danielson Didn’t Forget To Kick Silvers Head In

Back in the ring, Silver would set up the German Suplex with some fast strikes, but Danielson landed on his feet and got the roundhouse kick. The running knee strike was blocked into a roll up, before Danielson was tripped into the middle rope before a pump kick to the head and a German Suplex!

Spin Doctor was set up, but Danielson would gouge at the eyes before a flurry of elbow strikes nearly knocked Silver out. Danielson would look for the Gotch Style Piledriver, a page out of the Minoru Suzuki playbook. A simple choke was applied, and Silver was out – putting Danielson at 13-0-1 in AEW.

After the match, Danielson would grab the arms of Silver and kick his head in, but Page would run him down and drive Danielson off. Page is gonna stomp the cowboy shit out of Danielson next week. This is now a heated feud, and could go either way at Winter is Coming.

A hard hitting and smartly planned main event, showing that you don’t look past John Silver – but Danielson remains essentially undefeated. Match Rating: 4/5 (****)
