It’s been a hard effort following the two simultaneous tournaments in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Best Of The Super Juniors & World Tag League are heading to their final stop at Ryogoku – with two finals matches now set – alongside other matches on one of the final big cards ahead of Wrestle Kingdom. Who topped out the rankings in these tournaments and has a chance at the finals? Let’s see.
Hiromu Takahashi & YOH Meet In Finals Of Best Of The Super Juniors
Despite having a rough start to the tournament, YOH was able to find himself and string together a very impressive streak of wins. So much so, that what many view as the weak half of Roppongi 3K – has made the finals.
After beating Robbie Eagles, YOH gained more and more confidence, all leading to him defeating former partner SHO on December 11th. Impressively, YOH is the first to ever overcome a 0-4 start to stand in a Best of the Super Jr. final.
He will be met by someone expected, with Hiromu Takahashi once again finding himself in the finals. Takahashi had the issue of a time limit draw against El Desperado putting him at an odd number of points, but Takahashi thrives while always being the odd one out.
He started off the tournament defeating YOH, and now could end it with the same result. But with his blood rival Desperado waiting, and their battle not having a finish in their tournament match? Takahashi will be nearly impossible to stop in Ryogoku.
CHAOS vs. House Of Torture To Decide World Tag League
In World Tag League, House of Torture members EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi used their massive bag of tricks and support from Dick Togo to make the finals. This hated faction has already claimed the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championships, and now look to take World Tag League – and then the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships.
While House of Torture cheated their way to this spot, Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI would fight for every last win. They have become one of the best units in NJPW, with their reign alongside Tomohiro Ishii as NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions really serving to make them perfect partners. YOSHI-HASHI doesn’t have many accolades, so a win at World Tag League would be huge, and that won’t be lost on him.
Other matches announced for this event include BUSHI & Shingo Takagi vs. Robbie Eagles & Kazuchika Okada, Tetsuya Naito & SANADA vs. Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb and most importantly – a massive announcement from Katsuyori Shibata.
