Jussie Smollett’s co-star Terrence Howard, on the hit show ‘Empire’, has given his take on Jussie’s high profile court case.
Terrence Howard Gives His Take On The Jussie Smollett Case-‘They Judged Him And Found Him Guilty’
Jussie, for his part, had recently been found guilty of reporting a fake hate crime that had apparently been perpetuated against him.
Although Jussie’s legal team are going to file an appeal, given the fact that he was found guilty on five different counts, this suggests that it is going to be very hard to overturn the conviction completely.
As such, it is more realistic to expect a reduced sentence, if anything. And for Terrence, this has left him in a very difficult situation given that he is torn between his friendship with Jussie, as the latter played Terrence’s son on the show.
In an interview on the ‘Mark My Words’ radio show, Terrence said: “He was my son that I had the most difficulty with on that show as far as the character world goes.
“So you end up getting very close to individuals that you have the most struggle with. Whose characters you have the most struggle with.”
That is why it is no surprise that Terrence still has a close fondness for him. He admitted that he still views Jussie as a friend and has a desire to see him doing well.
However, the very fact of the matter is that a jury found him guilty on many different counts. And that is something that should be respected, regardless of whether or not one agrees with the verdict.
He added: “They judged him and found him guilty, 12 of them that judged from a completely unbiased position… you have to respect that.” And yet, Terrence stopped short of calling out Jussie over what he had done.
Instead, he looked at the bigger implications by suggesting that if this crime had gone unpunished, then it could have set off a chain reaction and exacerbated already existing racial tensions within America.
His following comments confirmed as much: “If they got away with it, then we would have the potential of Blacks feeling like they need to defend Black people against MAGA.”
