Last week, Von Wagner got caught by fellow rookie Edris Enofe – and he has never learned to take a loss with grace. Tonight, he’s got Malik Blade to prove that it was just a fluke. Wagner has not had a great run in WWE so far, and needs to start stringing together wins now that he can’t leech off the success of Kyle O’Reilly.

Harland Almost Commits Murder On Live TV, Von Wagner Claims A Win

First we’d catch up with Harland and the student of Andre Chase, with Gacy convincing Harland to not commit manslaughter. This student was almost thrown off the roof, but Harland decided to leave him be. WWE has done a fine job creating a monster heel, and you have to wonder how long he’ll keep listening to Gacy.

After the commercial break, Solo Sikoa was assaulted by a crazed Boa, who still doesn’t know how to control the powers he got from Mei Ying. A camera man was attacked, and Boa showed by up without face paint and looked confused. This remains one of the weirdest storylines in WWE, and it’s shocking they have stuck with this for so long.

Malik Blade was waiting in the ring, and Von Wagner made his way there showing all the charisma of a 2×4. Blade rushed it but was caught and driven into the corner for some shoulder strikes. Wagner would be caught with a kick before launching Blade with a backdrop. Robert Stone watched on, liking what he sees with Wagner as he hit some clubbing blows.

A gutwrench suplex landed, and Wade Barrett called Wagner a caveman, Blade would be dropped with a big lariat, before hitting two dropkicks in response. A springboard crossbody got two, before Wagner nailed an elevated flatliner and had a powerbomb countered. Instead, he’d nail the Angle Slam, and a twisting double underhook slam for the win.

High Stakes Women’s Tag Team Action To Cap Off NXT

Next week at New Years Evil, we will see Mandy Rose defend her NXT Women’s Championship against two challengers. Both Raquel Gonzalez & Cora Jade have worthy claims at a title shot, but tonight they have to maintain their claim. An issue earlier in the night changed their tag team match from against the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions to a clash with Io Shirai & Kay Lee Ray – and the winners are in the title match next week.

Jade & Shirai would kick the match off, with Shirai being thrown into the corner, but countering a flying headscissor attempt. Shirai would get caught with a quick pinfall attempt before Gonzalez tagged in to overpower Shirai. KLR would tag in and try to bring the fight to Gonzalez with some hard strikes, before sending her to the outside – where Shirai nailed a moonsault.

Throughout the commercial break, Shirai & KLR would beat down on Jade, while Gonzalez got mad on the apron. Back from the break, a scoop slam landed, before Jade would counter the KLR bomb for an opening – but wasn’t able to get the tag.

KLR hit a suplex to set up a dive from Shirai, but Gonzalez pulled Jade out of danger. Shirai instead hit a 619 before a diving dropkick, but Jade dodged a following double knee strike. KLR got the tag, and Jade hit enough of an enziguri to make a tag. Gonzalez hit an Alley Oop onto the ropes before a big lariat and a JBL esque fallaway slam.

The twisting vader bomb landed, and the single arm powerbomb followed. Gonzalez fell into a tag, and Jade tried to make the pin and Gonzalez stopped it. KLR went for a roll up, and Gonzalez pushed it for Jade to get the pin before getting into an argument.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
