With new NXT Tag Team Champions on the block with Fabian Aichner & Marcel Bartel of Imperium – it’s time to see who will be first in line for a title shot. Von Wagner expressed interest in he & O’Reilly getting the first shot on Twitter, which drew the ire of Legado Del Fantasma.
Joaquin Wilde claimed “Just because u ate smores at your bonfire with O’Reilly doesnt mean you suddenly deserve a tag team title match.” while Von Wagner claimed it would only take 5 minutes for him and O’Reilly to beat them. This one started on Twitter, and will end in the ring tonight as these teams clash. Before the match, Elektra Lopez would flirt with Xyon Quinn, impressed by his range tonight.
A Great New Tag Team Forming With Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner
O’Reilly & Wagner hit the ring with a fire in their eyes. Wilde locked up with O’Reilly in the middle of the ring, and was able to get the edge with their opening exchange. Mendoza kept control after a tag, able to get a sunset flip attempt before ending up trapped in an armbar. Wagner would tag in and flaunt his size with a backbreaker into a fallaway slam.
O’Reilly would hold Mendoza up, and Wagner completed the World’s Greatest Tag Team special. A sliding knee strike to the ribs of Mendoza would land, before Wagner came back in for some strikes. They were meshing well, until Mendoza dropkicked Wagner into O’Reilly. Wagner would hit a double suplex on Wilde & Mendoza, before we’d go to a commercial break.
Legado Del Fantasma Have The Slick Moves Of A Tested Tag Team
Back from the break, Wagner was battling through a headlock from Mendoza to try and get a tag. He would get free and O’Reilly made his time tested hot tag with a boot to Wilde to take him off the apron, and a sequence of strikes to Mendoza. Lopez got onto the apron to send O’Reilly off his game, allowing LDF to make the comeback.
O’Reilly was able to weather the storm, and get Wagner into the match. This was as deep as we’ve seen Wagner go in a match since his debut – and he’d nail a big Angle Slam. Clearly these two have been watching their Team Angle tapes, and O’Reilly would tag in. Wagner would tag himself back in without a plan, and Mendoza got the surprise roll up for the win after O’Reilly was kicked out of the ring.
