Olivia Jade has spoken on how she is often misunderstood in light of her parents’ 2019 college admissions scandal, conviction and prison sentences.

Olivia, for her part, had become embroiled in a scandal that she would rather forget. Her parents Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli had been convicted and sent to prison after they allegedly paid bribes of up to $500,000 in order to secure Olivia Jade and her sister Bella a place at the University of Southern California’s rowing team, despite not being athletes.
And after having suffered a lot of backlash for this, Olivia recognises that she is in a better position than most to be able to bounce back from something like this.
In a statement on her own podcast entitled ‘Conversations with Olivia Jade’ she was grateful for being able to have a second chance.
She said: “I am super aware that I’ve been given opportunities because of my parents and that I live a very blessed and fortunate and privileged life.
“But then there’s also a part of me that feels… it’s tricky. It’s hard to speak on because I know that to the average human, I have it easy.”
That is why Olivia believes that she is often subjected to unfair criticism on the assumption that she is simply living off her parents. However, for her, she feels that her own work is not recognised.
This is particularly true, as not only is Olivia Jade a podcast host, but she is also a major influencer on Instagram and YouTube. Sadly, though, this is not lauded which has left her feeling very aggrieved.
She added: “There is a big misconception about me, I feel at least personally, where I get that comment of, ‘You don’t work hard. But I didn’t have to start my YouTube when I was 14.
“I did put in a lot of work…In high school I had straight A’s.” The only way for Olivia to silence her critics is to continue what she does best. And the fans will be there to support her every step of the way.
