Despite what many fans have thought over the years, Impact Wrestling is alive and growing.
Over the last few years since Dixie Carter stepped down and Scott D’Amore has pretty much taken over, the company has changed and seem ready to reassert themselves in the pro wrestling conversation.
They’ve always had an open door policy to work with anyone as their track record with New Japan Pro Wrestling, AAA, and AEW shows, but the forbidden door has enticed another player into the fold.
With Impact Wrestling Knockouts World Champion Mickie James heading to the WWE Royal Rumble to represent, many were shocked the WWE is open to mentioning other companies on their shows, much less one of their big four events.

Laying out the challenge
Since becoming Impact Wrestling’s World Champion, Moose hasn’t been shy about calling out other companies’ wrestlers to further promote his fearlessness, but also to tease fans on what will come.
He took to Twitter for his latest challenge, levied at WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns:
I Claim to be the Wrestling God. He claims to be The Head of the Table. With all this Forbidden Door talk….. what if 🤔….,, @WWERomanReigns
— MOOSE (@TheMooseNation) January 9, 2022
This would be an awesome match, but as much as we’d like to see it happen, we doubt it will.
For starters, it’d be bad for either one to lose straight up, so the only way it could end would be a massive run in or by DQ for one or both.
Of course, this is only our opinion but we’re sure that Vince McMahon would never left his champion lose to another companies based of his history.
Just look at how he treated WCW and ECW stars during the Invasion angle twenty years ago.
They were booked like thieves that couldn’t win on their own and always needed help. Moose has shown he’s a loner unless there’s an opportunity.
Reigns has needed his cousins to help him in a good number of his defenses.
Plenty of possibilities
This opens the door for others to crossover to work together. Plenty of Impact Wrestling’s talent worked for the WWE and they know how they work, so it could be a smooth or rough back and forth.
It’s awesome to see even the WWE opening up to working with other companies even if it’s just limited and probably meant to draw other viewers to their programming. It’s what all the companies want in these partnerships.
As an added twist, this partnership has fans talking about the WWE buying Impact Wrestling like when rumors of AEW buying Impact were floating around during their time together.
For some, it’s about the WWE reinvigorating itself despite rumors of selling (though Anthem sports buying WWE would be an interesting angle), and for others it’s about getting more eyes on Impact while giving WWE Creative and Vince control.
Will Moose and Reigns face off, and who else do you think we’ll see crossover? Let us know in the comments below.
