Out of all the recent WWE releases, few people were done more dirty than Taya Valkyire. Brought into the NXT brand with a lot of hype, Valkyrie under the name of Franky Monet would be caught in the middle of a changing of the guard. She was promised a run as NXT Women’s Champion, and barely got a chance to contend for it before being abruptly released from WWE. This came around the same time her husband John Morrison would be released, and both are soon getting started again on the indies – but have bigger aspirations.
Taya Valkyrie Wants To Face Britt Baker In AEW… But In A Mixed Tag Situation
While speaking with Muscle Man Malcolm, Valkyrie made it clear that La Wera Loca wants to wrestle everyone, and get more time together with her husband along the way. An obvious route for this is mixed tag team matches, and the biggest possible match comes in AEW. Recently, Adam Cole & Britt Baker took their relationship onto TV – and are now the power couple of AEW- making them a target for the likes of Morrison & Valkyrie. Valkyrie would point this out when asked about opponents she hopes to face.
“Britt Baker and Adam Cole. We’ve never — I’ve wrestled Britt one time in like a multi-man. I don’t think John and Adam Cole have ever wrestled. John’s never wrestled Britt, and I’ve never wrestled Adam Cole. So there you go. Why not?”
AEW is starting to open up to Mixed Tag Team matches, with Adam Cole & Britt Baker teaming up on Wednesday to take on Orange Cassidy & Kris Statlander.
Another Veteran To Help Steady The AEW Women’s Division
Right now, AEW still has some lingering issues with their women’s division. They have brought in a lot of talent who will be great in time, but lack veterans in their division. With the addition of Mercedes Martinez and the rise of Serena Deeb, this is becoming less of an issue – but adding in someone like Taya Valkyire could only be a good thing for AEW. While the men’s roster is rather packed, their women’s roster is not plagued by the same issue.
With Valkyire hoping to have John join her, it seems they’re advertising themselves as a package deal. John Morrison is still one of the best wrestlers around, despite a lacking WWE run not showcasing this. He’d be able to find a role in AEW, but could suffer from the same issues as Jay Lethal – and get lost in the shuffle.
