Regina king’s son, Alexander lan Jr. has been reported to be dead just days after his 26th birthday. The young DJ/Producer celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, January 19, and his death was confirmed by Regina King on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
Regina And Her Son Were Very Close
The 50-year-old Actress had once stated that she and her only son, whom she shared with her ex husband-lan Alexander Sr. were really close. They even have a matching tattoo that says “unconditional love” in Aramaic which they got when taking kabbalah classes together.

Last week, in an interview with People, while speaking about the love between mother and son, King said, “You don’t know what unconditional love is. You may say you do, but if you don’t have a child, you don’t know what that is.” She had also said that she would give “her right arm” for her child’s safety and advancement.
In a statement the actress released concerning the incident, she said that her “family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of lan. He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time.” Regina King said.
Celebrities Share Their Condolences As Regina King Loses Her Only Child
As to what caused Alexander Jr’s death, Regina King made no comment about it. however, NBC News reports that he died by suicide. Many celebrities and friends have shared their condolences to King and her family on various social media platforms; wishing them the best at this trying time.
Bernice King, an activist posted on twitter: “praying for Regina King. She needs all the grace and light that can flow her way right now.” Jemele Hill also wrote, “Sending love and the armor of God to @Reginaking. May her and her loved ones find comfort and peace.” Michael Arceneaux said, “I offer nothing but love and pray to Regina King.”
