Kobe Bryant is a name that is synonymous with basketball and the Los Angeles Lakers. He is widely considered one of the greatest NBA players of all time and cemented as a legend with his 20-year career with the Lakers. Bryant famously put up 81 points in 2006 against the Toronto Raptors. He was a first-round pick in the 1996 draft, winning 5 NBA championships, 2 NBA Finals MVPs and he was the league MVP in ’08.
Today it has been confirmed that Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. It is reported that no one survived the crash. Eyewitnesses also tell us that they heard the helicopter’s engine sputtering before it went down.

Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna Maria Onore is also reported to have been on board. It’s reported that they were on their way to the Mamba Academy for a basketball practice when the crash occurred.
Bryant has famously used a helicopter to travel for years, dating back to his time with the Lakers. A memorial to Kobe has already sprung up outside of Staples Center.
He will be remembered as one of the greats, and the number 24. This comes just a day after he congratulated LeBron James on Instagram for passing Kobe as third on the NBA all-time scoring list. He told LeBron, “On to #2 @kingjames! Keep growing the game and charting the path for the next.” This would be his last Instagram post.

His passing is a huge loss to the basketball and NBA community, as fans all over the world remember the competitor. Today at the NFL Pro-bowl, Drew Brees just paid his respect to Bryant in a sideline interview.
Kobe Bryant is survived by his wife Vanessa. Together, they have four daughters — Gianna, Natalia and Bianca and their newborn Capri. Our thoughts are with his family. He was 41 years old.
