One of the developing stories on AEW Dark is the hunt for a tag team partner for Shawn Spears (fka Tye Dillinger). Ever since his initial feud with Cody Rhodes, he has been backed by wrestling legend Tully Blanchard, a well known tag team specialist. He must see himself in Spears, and has been adamant to find the right partner for the self proclaimed ‘Chairman Of AEW’.
Having run out of people willing to team with him backstage in AEW, Tully & Shawn have taken to Twitter to get fans to take the plunge and try their hand to become the next partner of Spears.

Tully & Shawn would have a video posted to the official AEW Twitter account, where they announced #SearchForSpears. They want fans of AEW to submit videos explainining why they would be the perfect partner for Spears.
While the dozens of fans of Spears will be flocking to this idea, we can’t expect this to blow up huge. It will be something fans have fun with, but it feels like AEW are hoping for a viral hit with this concept, but you’d need a bigger star for that.
Who Could Spears Eventual Partner Be?
While this will create the illusion that anyone can get the chance to be a partner of Spears, AEW must have a plan going into this. We could see Spears team with local talent who enter the contest, before finding his true partner. He will need someone with a large amount of tag team experience and charisma to make up for his lack of both.
This could make the newly signed Lance Archer a good pick for this role. Having a great look will catch eyes, and his loud personality will balance of Spears bland nature. Combine this with his past as a tag champion and AEW could have a deadly partnership on their hands.
Another option could be rumored signee Brodie Lee (fka Luke Harper). Being another former WWE superstar who felt overlooked will give them common ground, and much like Archer & Spears, they would be a perfect combo of brute power and technical prowess.
