Yep, I’m trying to kick this one up again… after like two months off, tonight we’ll be covering All Elite Wrestling’s secondary show, AEW Dark! Big Swole in action here this evening against a new face. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and I’ll be giving you the same kind of coverage you can expect from any show, meaning the results, the recaps and of course the previews for everything you can expect to see! The show premieres on YouTube very shortly and I’ll be covering the aftermath very soon after! So let’s look at what’s on tap.
Big Swole vs. Christi Jaynes
A clash in the women’s division here. Big Swole is among the many up-and-coming hopefuls, and kind of a common story: an impressive athlete that’s a little rough around the edges due to inexperience. That said, she’s always appeared to me to be further along than a lot of her peers. She makes good use of her power and she carries herself very well. Her opponent tonight, Christi Jaynes, is making her first appearance for AEW. Frequently people come in to Dark on one-off occasions, but it often turns out to be a tryout of sorts. Jaynes will certainly be hoping to impress enough her to be considered for a signing.
While I can’t say I know too much about Christi, she’s a Brazilian worker who has been in the business since atleast 2015. She has appeared with Stardom and The Crash Lucha Libre in the past. So it’s fair to say that even at this stage of her career, she’s quite well-traveled. We’ll hopefully get a good chance to see what she brings to the table, you don’t see pro wrestlers from Brazil too often though that is starting to change as the scope of mainstream wrestling in the US seems to widen a little bit more with every passing year.
As far as this match goes, I would figure that ultimately Big Swole is gonna come away with another victory. Slowly but surely inching her way towards becoming a Dynamite mainstay, she’s someone that I think will rack up a decent record and get to the point of having feuds, maybe even sniffing the Top 5. Where she goes from there will be up to her but I think she’s earned a shot at the next level.
