Block A of the Mexican National Tag Team Championship tournament follows an interesting format that begins with a battle royal to set up the various matchups. Despite the unique single night block action, the tournament provided some quality entertainment that the live audience was into. The following teams took part in the action: Soberano Jr. & Titán, Dulce Gardenia & Fuego, Misterioso & Sagrado, Ephesto & Luciferno, Black Panther & Blue Panther Jr., Pegasso & Stigma, Hijo del Villano III & Templario, Disturbio & Virus.
Nothing special came out of the battle royal. The first-round matches coming out of it and the winners were:
Disturbio/Virus vs Pegasso/Stigma -> Disturbio/Virus
Dulce Gardenia/Fuego vs Hijo del Villano III/Templario -> Villano III/Templario
Black Panther/Blue Panther Jr. vs Ephesto/Luciferno -> Ephesto/Luciferno
Soberano Jr. & Titan vs Misterioso/Sagrado -> Soberano Jr./Titan
Dulce Gardenia was extremely over with the live crowd despite being on a losing first-round team. Along with the great showing from Templario/Hijo del Villano III and Soberano Jr/Titan teams, Dulce Gardenia stood out the most in the first round for his show skills and how slick he is in the ring. Dulce was a student of Ultimo Dragon, who continues his legacy of being a high-quality professional wrestling trainer.
The second round of Block A saw the following results:
Disturbio/Virus vs Templario/Hijo del Villano III -> Templario/Hijo del Villano III
Ephesto/Luciferno vs Soberano Jr./Titan -> Soberano Jr./Titan
Templario stood out for his performance in the second round as the team of Soberano Jr./Titan looked sharp together, especially when working against the Rudo team of Ephesto and Luciferno. While Hijo de Villano III isn’t on Templario’s level, he is a capable tag team partner if the team is to stick together in a meaningful way past this tournament.
The finals of Block A brought an exciting conclusion to the first night of the tournament.
Templario/Hijo del Villano III vs Soberano Jr./Titan -> Templario/Hijo del Villano III
Now Templario/Hijo del Villano III wait for the winners of Block B to face off in what should be a high-quality tournament final. Templario shows the makings of at least a decent draw for CMLL, and this may be the beginning of a sizeable push for him.
