It’s Tuesday! And for all you YouTubing wrestling fans, that means another episode of AEW Dark goes up today! Tonight, we may well have the blowoff to a personal feud as we have Joey Janela vs Kip Sabian once more, but this time it’s Falls Count Anywhere! My name is Jordan Huie, you are visiting us here at the Overtimer where as always you can expect the full coverage of tonight’s show! Joey Janela vs Kip Sabian (Falls Count Anywhere)
So for the last couple of months, Kip Sabian and his girlfriend Penelope Ford (who happens to be Janela’s ex, the two of them came into AEW together) have been making life very difficult for Joey Janela. Ford has been eager to stick it to him for basically no reason other than Joey trying to ignore them and move on with his life. The saga of Bad Boy vs. Superbad has been pretty nasty to say the least, but tonight might just be the end of it. After all, it’s Falls Count Anywhere, no DQs, no count-outs and… well, the stip speaks for itself. This fight could go wherever it feels like!
Now on one hand, this means Penelope Ford can get involved all she likes. And she sure does like to get involved in matches wherever she can! But of course, on the other hand, Joey Janela is largely known as a hardcore specialist. He loves settings like this one, it’s very much his comfort zone. I mean the guy almost beat Kenny Omega in an Unsanctioned match during AEW Dark’s early days and gave Jon Moxley a run for his money back at Fyter Fest. It’s fair to say he’s much stronger in this environment and you don’t want to take that specialty away from people by having them lose these matches that are geared to them all the time.
Another thing going Janela’s way is that while he’s not someone people think of among the top stars AEW has created, when asked on a media call whose merch sales surprised him the most, Cody Rhodes noted Janela as one of the top movers. This in spite of not really being featured as prominently as a lot of other people. That’s something that I think they’ll wanna reward, he’s likely the winner of this feud. I’m gonna go ahead and say Janela over.
