On the next episode of AEW Dynamite, fans will see a match between Jake Hager and the current AEW Champion, Jon Moxley. The title is on the line, and Hager seems to have the number of Moxley as he looks to bring the AEW Championship back to the Inner Circle. Despite having gotten the jump on Moxley and even having proven he can choke him out, no one believes that the MMA fighter will be able to walk away with the championship.
Jake Hager Was One Of The Worst Holders Of The World Heavyweight Championship
Back during his time as Jack Swagger in WWE, we actually saw Hager get a main event push when he was a winner of Money In The Bank. He would successfully cash in on the March 30th, 2010 edition of Smackdown, taking out Chris Jericho. Hager would reign for a few months, and had one of the most forgettable reigns in the belts history, notching three defenses before losing in a Fatal Four Way to Rey Mysterio. His wrestling skills came with a complete absence of charisma or anything interesting happening with him during this time. Even a decade later, this is still true. He might be one of the most imposing in-ring technicians in All Elite Wrestling, but if his matches go too long, they can be a great sleep aid.
Jon Moxley Is The Hottest Act In All Elite Wrestling
Having won the AEW Championship at Revolution, they cashed in on the fact that since he left WWE, Jon Moxley has been the hottest thing in wrestling as a whole. In AEW, no one has been more dominant, and he isn’t expected to lose the AEW Championship for quite some time, he won’t lose it in his first defense. The match will be good, maybe even great, but the result is even more obvious than that of Big Show vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship.
The match airs on this coming Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, and is being billed as an empty arena match, which makes sense as we won’t be seeing crowds for quite some time anyways.
