Don Callis Feels Kenny Omega Would Have Come To Impact Wrestling With No AEW

After Kenny Omega reached the top of the New Japan Pro Wrestling mountain in 2018, finally beating Kazuchika Okada, and then losing to Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom, everyone was wondering ‘What’s next for Kenny Omega?’.

He was on his way out of New Japan Pro Wrestling, and while WWE was interested, that didn’t seem right for Kenny Omega. Obviously, he’d be one of the founders of All Elite Wrestling, where he resides today as the number one contender to the AEW Championship. If things worked out a bit differently though, he might have ended up in Impact Wrestling, according to his longtime friend Don Callis.

Don Callis Was Ready To Work Hard To Make Kenny Omega Impact Wrestling Bound

It’s no secret that Don Callis and Kenny Omega are good friends, with Callis being taken into AEW to call Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page at AEW Full Gear. Callis has become a high ranking name in Impact Wrestling since he left NJPW, helping to run day to day operations alongside Scott D’Amore. In a recent interview with Fight Game Media, he would mention the following in regards to Omega.

“I’ll say this: If AEW had not come into play … Kenny Omega would have come into Impact Wrestling. Not that he ever agreed to it, but it’s something that Scott D’Amore and I would have made happen.”

So while nothing was agreed too, it was likely discussed if nothing else. Someone like Omega going to Impact Wrestling would have been a major boost to the company, and likely brought a lot of fans in, even if he only had a few matches there.

Could This Happen With An AEW / Impact Wrestling Partnership

Given the presence of Don Callis at Full Gear, and Tony Khan mentioning he’d like to work more with Don & Impact in the future, Callis might be able to get Omega on board for Impact Wrestling. Even just a few matches there as a showcase would do a lot to help Impact Wrestling, and it would pay for many Impact Wrestling stars showing up for AEW alone.

Fans want matches like The North vs. The Young Bucks, and someone like Eddie Edwards or Eric Young could really make waves with a showing on AEW Dynamite. There is a lot to be gained for Impact in a deal like this, and AEW making allies is far from a bad thing.

Do you think Kenny Omega could have ended up full time in Impact Wrestling without AEW? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
