On November 29th New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) presented Best of the Super Juniors 27 (BOSJ 27) from the legendary Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan in front of 696 fans. COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) safety restrictions were responsible for the reduced crowd size, yet the crowd was enthusiastic throughout the event.
The marquee series match of the event saw former three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, BOSJ 25 (2018) winner, and Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member “Time Bomb” Hiromu Takahashi take on CHAOS member “Sniper of the Skies” Robbie Eagles in what was Eagles first singles marquee match in Japan as a part of the NJPW roster.
Hiromu came into the match after a victory over NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lion Yuya Uemura on November 25th, while Eagles dropped the fall to reigning two-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and Bullet Club member “Bone Soldier” Taiji Ishimori on the same night.
In what was a big match for Eagles, whose mind was on his father who is dealing with health problems in the Philippines, he gave the perceived ‘Ace’ of the Junior Heavyweight division everything that he could handle. Eagles needed the win to keep any realistic hope alive to advance to the BOSJ 27 Finals for an opportunity to win his first trophy in NJPW.
Despite his amazing efforts, Hiromu just had a little more on the night and was able to gain the fall at the 26 minutes and 1 seconds mark after using his Time Bomb II technique. The victory moved Hiromu to (5-1) [10 points], while Eagles dropped to (2-4) [4 points].
Hiromu joined Ishimori at the top of the BOSJ 27 table with the victory. Remember to stay up to date with the latest news on TheOvertimer. Don’t forget to visit Gamestingr for great videos, news, and gameplay!
