Colt Cabana has spoken on his coaching experience in light of his time in AEW. Colt, for his part, has become one of the most popular trainers in the sport.
Colt Cabana: ‘What’s Fun For Me Is That I’m Both A Coach And A Wrestler’
In an interview on Barstool Sports, Colt stated how he loves every minute of this venture. Why would he not? He has managed to do what few wrestlers have done: combine multiple roles, just like Big Show. He said: “What’s fun for me is that I’m both a coach and a wrestler in AEW.”
It seems fellow wrestlers have benefited from Colt’s style. He is known for having a laid back approach, and although this can backfire, it has not been the case here. Take, for example, Brock Lesner. Although he is a wrestling legend in his own right, his time as a coach was not so successful, given that he had more limelight than his fighters. But for Colt, it is his bread and butter.
He added: “I’ve had wrestlers afterwards come up to me and say, ‘I wasn’t scared to come back and get notes from you and get critiqued.’ I’ve been in that situation. I’m not looking to yell at anybody; I just want to make sure everyone becomes the best wrestler they can be.”
But to become the best, you have to go through the worst. That is why it is no surprise that Colt has suffered from bad coaching himself. And yet, what makes him such a good coach? Well, according to the man himself, someone who can lead from the front. He continued: “I think leadership is so important. And it’s, you know, people don’t coach how to coach. I think you have to take the experiences.”
And it seems Colt has no plans to slow down his coaching career anytime soon. His switch to AEW has allowed him to take on that extra creativity. With two NWA World Heavyweight Championships in the bag, he has now set his sights on the next generation: “I want to do everything. People know I can commentate and podcast. It’s almost like I don’t want to sink myself into one thing. Because that’s what happened.”
It will be interesting to see what Colt will turn his hands to next. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below. Please also remember to stay up to date with the latest news on TheOvertimer. Don’t forget to visit Gamestingr for great videos, news, and gameplay!
