It’s Wednesday, you know what that means. Another major episode of AEW Dynamite! We have a jam packed episode this week, with the AEW in-ring debut of Christian Cage, Kenny Omega & The Good Brothers in trios action, and Arcade Anarchy! Let’s break down these three matches and everything else announced for tonight.
Christian Cage Has First Singles Match In 7 Years
Perhaps the biggest part from tonight is the return to action from major signing Christian Cage. Back in 2014, he was medically retired due to concussion related injuries, but made his return to the ring in WWE as part of the 2021 Royal Rumble. He’d proceed to sign with AEW instead, and tonight he makes his in-ring debut.
His first singles match in seven years is an old rival from his days in TNA Wrestling (now Impact Wrestling) as he faces one half of SCU in Frankie Kazarian. This is a battle of in-ring veterans, and we can expect crisp action from both as Christian looks to start outworking everyone.
Kenny Omega & The Good Brothers vs. Laredo Kid & The Lucha Bros
Last week we had an instant classic with The Young Bucks & Brandon Cutler taking on Laredo Kid & The Lucha Bros in a trios match. After the match, Kenny Omega ran to the ring and took a shot at Laredo Kid. Laredo was the most recent challenger for his AAA Mega Championship.
This week, Laredo Kid returns to AEW once again to team with The Lucha Bros, and gets a chance at revenge with Kenny Omega. Add in solid backing for Omega in Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, in what looks like a great trios match on paper.
It’s Time For Best Friends To Move Past Kip & Miro In Arcade Anarchy
Tonight will end of one AEW’s more long running feuds, as we get the blowoff for Best Friends vs. Kip Sabian & Miro. Trents have been injured, arcade machines busted, weddings ruined, and Chuck Taylor spent a month as Miro’s butler even.
Now it ends with a ring surrounded with Arcade Machines, and if Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy lose? Taylor becomes the permanent butler of Miro in AEW. It’s been an odd storyline, but it will stand out if this match delivers.
Also announced for tonight is Cody Rhodes vs. QT Marshall, Jon Moxley vs. Cezar Bononi, MJF giving a gift to the pinnacle, and Hikaru Shida teaming up with Tay Conti to face The Bunny and Nyla Rose.
