The Young Bucks had one of their biggest defenses of their AEW World Tag Team Championships yet last night, when they faced SCU. SCU had their tag team career riding on this match, and Young Bucks took out a bloody Christopher Daniels to retain. Now, they’re wasting no time getting another defense out of the way, as they take on Varsity Blondes tonight on Dynamite.
The Young Bucks Are The Greatest Brother Team Ever
The Young Bucks once again one-upped their bad outfit game, while Don Callis called them ‘The Greatest Brother tag team ever’, putting them above The Briscoes, The Von Erics, The Steiners and The Funks. Excalibur agreed that they’re the best of their generation, as Griff Garrison started with Nick Jackson. He’d nail a huge big boot that sent him into a tag from Matt Jackson.
Pillman Jr. got a tag, and hit dropkicks alongside Garrison to send The Young Bucks to the outside. Matt would get into the ring and be taken down with an arm drag and apply a wrist lock. Pillman Jr. would tag in Garrison who got a few blows in before tagging out and setting up the dropkick/spinebuster combo.
Garrison nailed a scoop slam, and Pillman Jr. went for the rolling senton, only to meet knees to the back. The Young Bucks would send Pillman Jr. to the ramp, and do a slow rope walk into a double axe handle before diving onto Garrison on the outside. Pillman Jr. would be pulled into the ring and stomped as Nick would show off his shoes in the middle of the match.
Varsity Blondes Are Blinded And Submitted
The Young Bucks had Pillman Jr. isolated, and would dodge a crossbody attempt when Pillman Jr. got free. A backbreaker/leg drop combo added more punishment, and the crowd was steadily getting behind Pillman Jr. who was able to nail the crossbody on the second go. Garrison got the tag, and would use his size to take down both Young Bucks with a double spear before soaring over the top rope with the greatest of ease.
Back in the ring, Pillman Jr. nailed the flying clothesline, allowing Garrison to get a two count. He’d tag Pillman Jr. back in, and the match shifted back to the control of The Young Bucks who hit a superplex. They’d launch kicks to the spine, before Pillman Jr. would counter a kick to have Matt kick Nick, before nailing a superkick.
Pillman Jr. missed a blind tag to Matt Jackson, and would end up in a sharpshooter. Nick used the cold spray to blind Pillman, but Garrison broke the pinfall up. Julia Hart exposed Nick to the referee, who took the can away… only to have another thrown his way, and he’d spray her before walking into a small package!
Pillman Jr. got a two count, before ending up back in the Sharpshooter. Garrison was isolated on the outside, and Nick dropped Pillman Jr. with a facebuster. Nowhere to go, Pillman Jr. tapped out.
Varsity Blondes really showed their skills in this one, where they had the crowd 100% behind them. However, The Young Bucks remain dominant champions and would win yet another match here. They’re back to their old Bullet Club ways, but have a hard challenge ahead for Double or Nothing. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
After the match, The Young Bucks were beat down by Moxley & Kingston. With only Brandon Cutler helping The Bucks tonight, both Matt & Nick were choked out in the ring. Will see new tag team champions at Double or Nothing? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
