Ellen has been one of the most well-known hosts in the entertainment industry over the last decade. But like all things, they must come to an end. That has not stopped Ellen from making sure that she leaves behind her mark. A source told Us Weekly: “The entire next season is going to be a celebration of the past 18 years.
“They’re working on figuring out which A-listers and popular guests they’re going to book.” On reflection, it was probably wise to call time on the show. This can be pinned down to the following reasons. First, there have been accusations that Ellen has been perpetuating a toxic environment on set. This included various staff members coming out to cite Ellen as a bully.
While she would go on to deny the allegations, she did come out with a public apology. Regardless of whether this was Ellen acknowledging the veracity of their claims, the show’s ratings plummeted. There were even suggestions that Ellen may end up being cancelled. Naturally, the show was bound to come to an end.
In a statement at the time, Ellen said: “I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness… obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed…I am sorry.” Although controversy may be one of the reasons for Ellen walking away, she is also looking to find new challenges.
During her career, she has branched out into acting. This has been typified by her roles in the Finding Nemo movies. Not only that, she was given the opportunity to host the Oscars. And that willingness to work outside her comfort zone has left Ellen wanting a taste for more. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed: “I just needed something to challenge me.
