During the Casino Battle Royale at AEW Double or Nothing 2021, an old rivalry returned to the mix. Christian clashed with Matt Hardy for the first time in ages, and this continued last week on Dynamite when Christian teamed with Jungle Boy to take on Private Party. Tonight, he takes on another member of the Hardy Family Office, Angelico. Hardy would hope that Angelico could use his training to end the career of Christian here tonight.
Christian & Angelico would lock up and Angelico quickly got a wrist lock. He’d be countered into a side headlock, but would be able to grapple his way free and hit a quick arm drag. Christian would slap the taste out of Angelico’s mouth when he got cocky, before forcing him into the corner for a quick 10 punch. He’d go up top and get taken down by the arm before Angelico stomped the arm out.

Angelico now had a target, and would throw Christian arm first into the corner before wrapping it up in the ropes until Aubrey Edwards forced him to break it. The crowd would be behind Christian, who hit a slap and a springboard sunset flip. Angelico nearly countered into the Navarro Death Roll, but Christian kicked out.
He’d twist the arms of Christian up and apply an armbar. Christian broke free and nailed a tornado reverse DDT before setting up a missile dropkick for a two count. Jack Evans ran a distraction on the outside, but Christian would still take Angelico down for the diving headbutt. Angelico came back with a quick arm whip, but when he looked to stomp onto the arm by jumping off the top rope, he’d take a kick to the face instead.
A grounded enziguri and a jackknife pinfall got Angelico a two count, before both men would collide with headbutts in the middle of the ring. Christian hit a pendulum kick and a diving uppercut, before looking for, and nailing the Killswitch for the win.
Christian continues to be rock solid in the ring for AEW, and he meshed well with the technically sound style of Angelico in this match. Angelico did good work on the arm, and Christian sold it until the end. Nothing game changing, but a fun back and forth match with great flow. Another 5 minutes and some extra drama would have helped raise the rating. Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** 1/2)
After the bell, Jack Evans & Matt Hardy would attack Christian, with Hardy nailing a Twist of Fate. Hardy would apply the leech, before Jungle Boy made the save. When will Christian get his hands on Matt Hardy? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
