Cody Rhodes has recently made his return after filming the second season of the Go-Big Show. This continues the feud between Malakai Black. Their feud looks to hopefully meet its climax at AEW Grand Slam. However, a lot of fans are slowly turning on Cody Rhodes, making him feel like the John Cena of AEW with. Backing himself into a corner again
It feels like this is another commitment holding Cody Rhodes back. The fact that he has now said he’s not turning Heel because of the younger ones, and he has said he will never go after the AEW championship, is really backing him into a corner of what he can do in the future.
Cody has recently stated that he will be wrestling at least too. He’s 40, with him being only 36 now. That is at least 4 more years of wrestling with him already winning the TNT belt in AEW. There really isn’t much for him to do in the next 4 years. He already teased his retirement on AEW before saying he will wrestle for the next 4 years. It started to all add up to a character that has no real freedom to grow or react to the audience.
