A few weeks back in AEW, it looked like Cody Rhodes was done. He had been demolished by Malakai Black in record time, and it seemed like he was considering ending his career then and there. Leaving your boots in the ring is a way to signify this, but Black shut him down before he could really do anything. This Wednesday is the return match for Rhodes, as he looked for revenge against Black – and isn’t going to retire anytime soon.
Cody Rhodes Isn’t Done Yet
We have at least a few more years of Cody Rhodes in AEW, as told by himself on Twitter. Rhodes has been doing a lot of outside projects on TNT lately, such as The Go Big Show & Rhodes To The Top. While promoting Rhodes To The Top, a fan would ask him if he had to choose between TV or wrestling, which he;d pick.
“I’m a wrestler first and foremost. When on these other projects…I’m still the wrestler guy. My favorite byproduct of the outside stuff is casting a wider net and gaining new fans for the sport. I’ll be bumping/feeding til’ 40 no doubt.” This makes it clear where the loyalty of Rhodes lies, and it’s with pro wrestling.
Will Malakai Black Go 2-0 Against Rhodes
At Dynamite: Grand Slam, we have the rematch of Black & Rhodes incoming. If Rhodes was to retire soon, it’d make sense for Black to obliterate Rhodes again. AEW’s biggest gate yet would be the perfect place for Rhodes and The Nightmare Family to fall, but that’s not going to happen until Rhodes is truly done.
It might still be too early for Black to lose a match in AEW. He’s been unstoppable so far, and having Rhodes get the win could kill his momentum before Black will hit his peak. Having Rhodes stop Lance Archer really hurt his momentum, and fans are worried that this Wednesday the same will happen to Black.
