While he might have lost the Impact Wrestling World Championship to Christian Cage, Kenny Omega is still a double world champion. He’s obviously the AEW World Heavyweight Champion, but is still the reigning AAA Mega Champion as well. This is a title he defends fairly regularly, be it in AEW or down in Mexico. Last time he was able to overcome Andrade, even despite Ric Flair getting involved. Now, we know his next challenger – thanks to a AAA Press Conference.
Hijo del Vikingo Will Be Next To Face Kenny Omega
During said press conference, we would get a fair few announcements from Dorian Roldán. Among these was the announcement of the next challenger of Kenny Omega – that being Hijo del Vikingo. To make matters even better, Vikingo seemed to not know he was next in line until it was said – as he looked absolutely shocked.
This will be the 6th defense of the title by Kenny Omega, with him having defended successfully against Jack Evans, Dragon Lee, Sammy Guevara, Laredo Kid, and Andrade. Hijo del Vikingo could have an outside chance of taking the belt from Omega, and the match goes down on the 4th of December at TripleMania Regia.
What Else Was Discussed?
This wasn’t just a press conference to name the next man to face Kenny Omega in AAA, and there are some other bits of interest. First up is the next match of Cain Velasquez – who makes his return to the ring after his WWE release in 2020. It was always expected his next match in Mexico would be a tag match, and we now know who will be involved. Psycho Clown will team with Cain Velasquez and Pagano to take on Rey Escorpion, Taurus and a surprise wrestler at TripleMania Regia.
Another interesting note was AAA wants to run another event as big as TripleMania, but it’s still in the early stages.
