Following the Jungle Boy vs. Adam Cole match, the Elite would swarm the ring. Karl Anderson would address the Rochester Crowd, and hype up each member of faction, if you ignore Brandon Cutler & Nakazawa. Cole would grab the microphone for some storytime with Adam Cole. He told the world he’d beat Jungle Boy, and he did it without help. Cutler tried to cut a promo, but had the microphone snatched.
Don’t Poke The American Dragon – You Might Get Burned
Omega would shut down CM Punk chants, and say that his social media mentions are full of people saying that his match with Danielson was one of the best matches they’ve ever seen. Bryan Danielson took him to his limit – but he couldn’t beat him. He couldn’t get the job done, has no wins in AEW – and will never get to face Omega again.
Danielson would come out and get the crowd going – by asking if the crowd wants to see this rematch. It got a resounding yes. They want a rematch, Danielson wants a rematch, but Omega doesn’t have the balls to give him a rematch. So he presents to the crowd – Kenny ‘No Balls’ Omega! The crowd would gladly chant this, and he’d challenge someone from The Elite for a match on Rampage.
Omega said to come fight right now, but Danielson wouldn’t come alone. Kazarian, Christian Cage & Jurassic Express all flooded the ring, and The Elite ran away. This very much proved his point – but will he have a dance partner for Rampage?
Cody Rhodes & Lee Johnson Try To Ground Some Top Fliers
Last week, Cody Rhodes lost again to Malakai Black. He fought hard, but took black mist to the face and got rolled up deep for a loss. Rhodes hasn’t shown much effect of this loss, but he will have to try to be focused tonight as he teams with Lee Johnson to take on the high flying duo of Dante Martin & Matt Sydal. This was as much a match as it was a plug for Rhodes to The Top after AEW.
Rhodes got into the ring with Dante, before getting a headlock takeover. Dante slipped out, and Johnson got a tag alongside Sydal. Sydal would take the fight to the rookie, and take in Dante. They’re equally matched in skill, but Arn Anderson gave Lee Johnson some coaching. A shoulder tackle took Martin down, before he’d flip over a strike from Johnson.
Rhodes & Sydal got into the fight, and outside Sydal nailed the meteora off the apron. Johnson jumped out next, and Dante came in last. Double dropkick and quick tags would keep control, and Sydal almost got him with the Lighting Spiral. Rhodes would tag in to the dismay of the crowd, he’d take Sydal down and hit the Vertebreaker on Dante for a two count.
A huge missile dropkick got Rhodes down, and a double springboard moonsault got a two count. Johnson tagged himself in, and almost got rolled up. Dante was nailed with a huge neckbreaker, and Johnson got the win for Nightmare Family.
Solid but unremarkable tag team match. Dante & Johnson have amazing chemistry, and they were the highlights in this match. Match Rating: 2.75/5 (** 3/4)
After the match, Rhodes would call out Malakai Black, and Anderson told him to stop talking. He’d dress Rhodes down, saying that he needs to actually prepare to take on Black again. Anderson would bring the fight, but he’s too damn old. He’d call Rhodes a coward, says he’s got no killer instinct – and he won’t couch a loser anymore. Where will the career of Rhodes go from here?
