Paris Hilton has urged US President Joe Biden to take more steps to protect teenagers from instances of abuse.

Paris is no stranger when it comes to suffering abuse during her youth. She recently testified at the Utah Senate Judiciary Committee, where she admitted that she suffered from abuse when she was attending high school.
This experience made Paris carry the mantle for the youth, when she decided to become a youth advocate for those who were placed within care facilities. And so it showed, as Paris outlined some of the experiences that she went through.
During an interview with the Washington Post, she said: “When I was 16 years old, I was awakened one night by two men with handcuffs.
“They asked if I wanted to go ‘the easy way or the hard way’ before carrying me from my home as I screamed for help. I had no idea why.”
The news, albeit shocking, was made much worse given the fact that her parents may have played a role in this. Paris was known for being a free spirit, sometimes against the will of her parents.
And in order for them to discipline her, Paris’ parents approved of outside intervention that misled them into thinking that Paris’ behaviour would improve.
Paris added: “[I was a] parent-approved kidnapping. [My parents] fell for the misleading marketing of the troubled teen industry.”
With no one there to listen to Paris’ concerns, she had to go through horrific instances of abuse without any recourse. These instances have had a long-lasting impact on her, to the point where she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.
That is why she has urged the US President to act immediately. She continued: “Congress and President Biden need to enact a basic federal ‘bill of rights’ for youths in congregate care.
“Every child placed in these facilities should have a right to a safe, humane environment.” Paris should be praised for the manner that she has chosen to speak out against an issue that she deeply cares about.
