Since the start of AEW, fans have been wanting to see more of the lucha libre tag team TH2. The duo of Angelico & Jack Evans came into AEW with a built in-fanbase, with Evans being a legend of the indies, and Angelico having gained a lot of fans for his insane spots in Lucha Underground. However, they’ve never seemed to be able to find a sustained push in the promotion – and have been off TV again since 2021, but this time – for a good reason.
Angelico Suffered A Torn ACL – Is On Speedy Path To Recovery
Eagle eyed fans have taken notice of this, with Angelico having not wrestled since December 2021. Jack Evans has shown up on Dark, but without his bucket hat wearing tag team partner. Angelico would promise answers to fans – and today revealed that he suffered a torn ACL in 2021 during this match with Invictus Khash. He’d say the following on Twitter.
“Official Announcement: Unfortunately the bad news is I can confirm the rumors. I suffered a torn ACL and meniscus at the end of 2021. The good news as you can see below, is that my recovery is well ahead of schedule and my return to the ring is just around the corner!”
Attached was a video of Angelico training – with him balancing on a jungle gym and walking it like a tight rope – which can be viewed here. Considering ACL tears normally take talents out for nine months to a year, this is incredible. AEW fans can hopefully expect TH2 back soon, and perhaps can finally see them find a more defined role within the AEW roster.
Prior to being taken off TV, TH2 were aligned with the Hardy Family Office – which led to Jack Evans losing his hair during a match against Orange Cassidy. It wouldn’t be hard to go up from there, as being essentially grunts to Matt Hardy is not a high spot on the roster. There are currently no plans set for TH2 upon their return to the ring.
