As the AEW roster continues to grow, some names are being left in the dust. One such team is the Varsity Blondes, Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison. At one point, there were a promising babyface tag team – not showing much character, but bringing some solid babyface fire to the table. Add in Julia Hart as a manager, and there was some potential there – but the second she left for House of Black.
Brian Pillman Jr. Notes Julia Hart Leaving All But Sunk The Tag Team
While speaking with Renee Dupree on his “Cafe De Rene” podcast, Brian Pillman Jr. would open up about just how hard losing Julia Hart hit them. Pillman would be quoted saying the following.
“I mean, its pretty plain as day what happened, you know what I mean. As soon as we lost her, we kind of lost our edge and our spark that made us a good group, a babyface group that could have got over, you know. A lot of what we were going to do with some different spots with her had a lot to do with her cheerleading background and playing to her strengths. But somebody came in and decided that they would do better with their group and then that’s just how it goes, you know. I definitely wasn’t happy with it to be quite honest, but it is what it is. It’s not my show. It’s business but I thought maybe that probably what really stopped us from really seeing the true potential The Varsity Blondes was we lost her before we even got going.”
Varsity Blondes have been off TV since August, where they were squashed by The Gunn Club in a mere 31 seconds. There’s been no sign of Pillman or Griff Garrison even on AEW Dark since. Meanwhile, Julia Hart & House Of Black went on second to last at All Out, in a losing effort to Darby Allin, Sting & Miro.
Hart in general is showing more potential as her career moves forward, with many seeing her as a potential TBS or AEW Women’s World Champion. Do you think Varsity Blondes have run out of chances in AEW? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
