Bully Ray Says That the Tuesday Showdown Between ‘AEW Dynamite’ and ‘NXT’ Was Essentially a No Contest

Bully Ray thinks neither company took the “Tuesday War”  between WWE and AEW wasn’t a victory for either company. In the ratings WWE NXT trounced AEW Dynamite by a massive amount but Bully Ray had to point this wasn’t exactly the cleanest of ratings battles.

Bully Ray Says That the Tuesday Showdown Between ‘AEW Dynamite’ and ‘NXT’ Was Essentially a No Contest

As a matter of fact, he said neither “won” the night despite a blowout in viewership from WWE. The discussion occurred on Busted Open Radio and the conversation on the ratings happened over three days of shows. Tommy Dreamer dropped in to discuss the ratings saying that NXT won the ratings war despite feeling both shows great shows that night.

Dreamer would boil it down to not caring about who won overall. In Bully Ray’s opinion, there were simply no winners—or no winners or note:

“I do not believe either one of the companies won. Obviously the rating, the hard number [921,000] to [609,000] dictates that ‘NXT’ won. But when I sit back and I really think about these numbers without trying to dive too deep into all the minutia of it, I say to myself this, WWE loaded up this show on their own night with some of the heaviest firepower they possibly could not named The Rock or ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. They loaded it.” (h/t: Wrestling Inc)

In case you missed it, while Edge was on AEW Dynamite and the show was exciting, NXT had The Undertaker, John Cena, Asuka, and LA Knight which definitely juiced the ratings significantly. He used the September special show that saw some active main-brand talents show up and compared to the 10/10 show with some heavy guns.

Because of the closeness in ratings of those two NXT shows, he doesn’t feel comfortable in saying it was an actual win for WWE’s third brand.

”Now, on that specialty show, I think we might have gotten Becky, and I think we might have gotten Rhea and Dom. It was the normal crossover that they were doing with talent from the main roster, and they did an 850—-strong number on their own. Now you bring in thermonuclear freaking firepower, and you got [71,000] more viewers. To me, that’s not that much.”

He would give it to Dynamite if he had saying that the company maintained what it had been doing ratings-wise and on air. Do you agree with Bull Ray or is this clear win for NXT and damn the particulars? Share your take in the comments!
