AEW Dark continues! Backstage we see Brandon Cutler with the Librarians, Peter Avalon and Leva Bates. Being interviewed by a very tiny lady. She says that a lot is being made about whose foot touched first in the TNT title shot battle royal but she notes it doesn’t matter, they both lost. Cutler and Avalon are furious at this suggestion and bicker about who was eliminated first and the interviewer quickly decides she wants no part of this and makes her leave. Leva intervenes and demands they both stop. She says that yelling does not solve the problem but she’s the brains here and she’s figured it out. Says they both have a ‘negative winning streak’. But it’s pure math and pure science that two negatives make a positive… demands they team up. Avalon shouts “Again?!” and Cutler says they already tried it. Leva says a variable was missing in that equation: her! She’ll be out there for them. Cutler says maybe she can help but demands no cheating! Doesn’t want his first win to come from cheating. They promise he doesn’t have to worry about it and make their leave. Christi Jaynes makes her way out now, she faces off with Kilynn King. This is the first time I can recall AEW putting two of their guests against each other, let’s see what happens here…
Christi Jaynes vs. Kilynn King
Lock-up, King gets the advantage and cinches in a side headlock. Jaynes takes her to a knee… hammerlock into a headlock of her own. Knee to the gut, hits the ropes and hits a shoulder block. Thus a dance begins. She hits the ropes, King avoids her and hits the ropes herself for a shoulder tackle that flips her across the ring! King mocks her dancing. Jaynes isn’t happy with this, King ducks a punch, exchange of roll-ups and leg clips, King with a deep arm drag and a hip toss for a cover but a quick kick-out. King with an arm wringer. Jaynes struggling to try and get to the ropes but King prevents it, spins her around in the air to take her down to the mat, still controlling the arm!
Pulls her to her feet, Jaynes grabs the hair and backs her into the corner, ref tries to break them up but Jaynes hits King while Knox can’t see it, cheap shot! Stomps her to the mat as she starts to lose her composure. She calms down and says she’s happy, pulls King up and snapmares her down. Stands on her hair as she pulls on her wrists until she’s made to break! Round kick to the shoulder blades, cover for a 2 count. Jaynes drives her into the corner and digs her fingers into her throat! King fights out, series of clotheslines, spine kick, hits the ropes for a big boot into a Snap German Suplex! Stalks, hits a leaping cutter! But Jaynes reverses the cover and grabs the tights for the cheap win!
Winner: Christi Jaynes
Jury’s still out on Christi for me but she does have an interesting look with the Brazilian flag gear and the peacock feather aesthetic. Also we don’t necessarily have a dedicated dancer around.
