Harry Styles has caused a stir on social media after he decided to dress up as Dorothy from ‘The Wizard of Oz’ during his Madison Square Garden performance.

During his performance, Harry dazzled the crowd with his rendition of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow.’ And yet, his musical talents were not the major talking point. His choice of attire struck a chord with some people in the crowd.
In the picture here, we can see Harry in a blue dress, red tights and red-heeled shoes. As part of the performance, he was waving a Pride flag in reference to the recent conclusion of Pride Month.
Harry, for his part, has always made huge statements with his appearance. He famously challenged the perception of how people of the opposite gender should dress with his cover shoot for Vogue, where he was pictured wearing a ballgown while blowing a blue balloon.
Naturally, his fans came out in droves to express their support for him. One fan wrote: “Happy harryween weekend to harry styles only.”
While another remarked: “Can’t believe there are people out there who witnessed harry styles dress as Dorothy and sing somewhere over the rainbow for Halloween, and I wasn’t one of them.”
Nevertheless, not everyone was left impressed by what Harry had done. Others felt that Harry was not doing anything out of the norm. In fact, there were a list of other iconic figures who had done similar things.
Take, for example, the late David Bowie. He was known for pushing the boundaries with how he often dressed. As such, Harry was simply copying what had gone before rather than coming out with something original.
In another post, a user revealed: “Can we please stop praising Harry Styles as some kind of saviour/icon for open gender expression/fluidity/whatever?
“So many others before him have been doing it for years but don’t get the same recognition because they aren’t also a straight white male.”
Harry knows how to get people talking. And with the way that he is, there is no doubt that he will make further headlines going forward.
