When it comes to independent wrestling, few promotions generate as much buzz as Pro Wrestling Guerilla. The South California based company is where indy wrestlers go to have some of the best matches of their careers in front of rabid fans, and after a long period of inactivity, things are back up and running. Their latest show Mystery Vortex 7 happened last night, but fans outside of the venue will have to wait until the DVD drops to watch it. However, from reports and pictures from the show, the card and results are known.,
Names From All Over Wrestling Performed
The best part about PWG is you truly never know who will show up, and especially with a Mystery Vortex card. No one knew going in who would be on the show, which was half the fun for the live fans. The opening match saw Tony Deppen from Ring of Honor defeat the debuting Jack Cartwheel. Second match was Brody King defeating JD Drake from AEW faction, The Wingmen. This is one match to seek out when the show is available, as you can imagine how hard hitting it would be.
Another debut in Arez would lose to ROH’s Flamita, and ROH got another win as Pure Rules Champion Jonathan Gresham defeated the debuting Lee Moriarty. In a match that potentially dealt with the issue of the PWG Tag Team Championships, currently still held by NXT Tag Team Champions MSK, the Rascalz third member Trey Miguel teamed with a debuting Myron Reed in a loss to Aramis & Rey Horus.
One match that was a major but welcome surprise was fans included two longtime PWG favorites, who have won over fans in AEW. Evil Uno of Dark Order took on Orange Cassidy, with Cassidy coming out on top. Finally, Bandido would put the PWG Championship on the line against Impact Wrestling talent Black Tarus, and come out on top. After this match however, everything broke down.
Some Major Returns After The Main Event In Super Dragon & Malakai Black
Following the main event, Bandido would be attacked by former partner and current rival in ROH, Flamita. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the lights would go out and Super Dragon, owner of PWG and legend of the promotion would return. For reference, he last competed in 2015.
However, the lights would go out a second time and Malakai Black showed up to make the save. It’s unclear if he will go by that name or his old moniker of Tommy End in PWG, but it was clear that he was ready to save Bandido. Rounding out this situation was Brody King, who helped Black out before they embraced. This sets up a potentially massive six man tag team match for PWG’s next show, which is set to come soon.
