If there is one thing that most wrestling fans can agree on, it is that there are few things better than a good tournament. It can be a great way to build up a lot of talent at once, set up a new champion, and push the roster harder than ever before. This will hopefully be the case with the upcoming ROH Women’s World Title Tournament. But if there is something Ring Of Honor fans could agree on, it was that Quinn McKay deserved to get into this tournament.
It Was Not An Easy Path To The Tournament For Quinn McKay
The path to the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament for ROH Week by Week host Quinn McKay has been one full of twists and turns. She initially had a chance to get in when she wrestled her debut match for the company, losing to veteran Angelina Love due to the interference of Love’s ally in The Allure, Mandy Leon. After this, the tournament started to really fill up, but one of the entrants was taken out by Maria Kanellis-Bennett, as Vita Von Starr of The Righteous wouldn’t focus on the Women’s division.
This led to an open slot, and Quinn McKay had a second chance to get in. Her opponent was Mandy Leon, and again she lost due to shady tactics from The Allure, as Angelina Love slipped Leon some Brass Knuckles. This led to McKay being knocked out by Leon, seemingly ending her chances at getting into this tournament. However, Maria Kanellis-Bennett would put the choice up to ROH fans, and McKay got a 95% vote of yes to if she belongs in the tournament.
Her First Round Opponent Will Be Mandy Leon
While her path to the tournament was not an easy one, the trouble won’t stop with just getting into the field. Her first round opponent will be none other than Mandy Leon. This time around, Angelina Love will be banned from ringside, as will Leon from any of Love’s matches. We know that Maria Kanellis-Bennett won’t hesitate to kick them out if they break this rule, finally giving McKay an honest chance.
If 2020’s ROH Pure Rules tournament is any indication, this tournament should be fantastic. ROH has a lot of talent in the field, and the underdog story of McKay is just one of the stories coming into this tournament. Could McKay defy the odds and walk away as champion?
