Two months ago during the Ratings Battle Royal, former ROH World Champion PCO was eliminated by ‘The Metalhead Maniac’ Sledge, and this issue was never resolved, until now. Sledge is still very new into his ROH career, and he will have his biggest challenge ever as he looks to beat PCO.
It’s worth noting that only two people have ever pinned twice in ROH, making this potential win massive for Sledge. Also, Danhausen is on commentary to cheer on his best friend, PCO. Love that Danhausen. He sent a handwritten letter to get this match!
French Canadian Frankenstein vs. The Metalhead Manic
These two monstrous men would hit the ring, and chaos was soon to follow. PCO has a 24 year experience edge over Sledge, but their size is roughly the same. No Code of Honor, but no disrespect shown, just intensity. Sledge threw a right hand towards PCO, who went low and took Sledge to the mat.
Some hammering elbows and punches would be launched from PCO, before Sledge slipped out and took PCO down with strikes of his own. A running big boot in the corner would nail PCO across the face, before Sledge kept throwing strikes at PCO. PCO would fire right back and take Sledge down with a Russian Leg Sweep before hitting a falling headbutt. A body check in the corner would crush Sledge, who was in a lot of trouble early on.
PCO would look for a scoop slam before being countered by Sledge, who slipped out and hit a slam of his own and an elbow drop before we’d go to a commercial break. Notable information from Danhausen includes that he didn’t introduce PCO to Conan O’Brian and that Sledge is actually named Sludge and is living in a Fool’s Paradise, which isn’t comparable to a Gangsters Paradise/
PCO Malfunctions, The Match Gets Thrown Out
Back from the break, PCO would be back to controlling this match as he hit a falling powerslam and low dropkick to the neck of Sledge. Danhausen is using PCO to get more famous to get more sacks of money, and PCO just has to keep doing what he does best. PCO was doing this, as he chopped Sledge into a corner before being thrown with an exploder suplex.
Sledge looked satisfied until PCO popped up and nailed some body blocks to wear Sledge back down. The chokeslam was set, a move which Danhausen taught him and claims to have invented. Instead of lifting him up and slamming him, PCO shoved Sledge over the top rope before hitting the ropes and nailing a Cannonball through the ropes.
PCO put Sledge on the apron, before hitting a Swanton Bomb to crush him. Sledge was then shoved into the apron, before PCO started to malfunction. PCO would take a seat on the barricade and get kicked onto the concert. He’d get up and nearly attack the referee, before Sledge did the same. This one was thrown out as they kept on brawling until security broke it up.
A wild brawl of a match, which really benefited from PCO’s decades of experience. Sledge was portrayed as his equal in this one, but the lack of a clear finish was very much a letdown. Match Rating: 2/5 (**)
