Trey Songz is never short on accusers as the latest woman to accuse him is suing for $5 million. Unlike the testimony we often get against celebrities where it’s a recollection of events, there is also video evidence of bad behavior on Songz’s part.
Trey Songz Hit with $5 Million for Sexual Assault Lawsuit Caught on Video
Lawyers hit the Grammy-nominated artist with a demand letter which was obtained by TMZ on Thursday, April 21. Megan Johnson is listed as the plaintive in the case titled “T***ies in the Open”. The title comes from Trey Songz who chanted “T***ies in the Open” after exposing the young woman in the video.
The incident happened at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut during “Foxwoods Liquid Sundays with Trey Songz” on Sunday, August 25, 2013. In the VIP tent, Johnson and her friends met Songz. They got ready to snap a photo with the “Nobody Else But You” singer when it is claimed that he snuck behind Johnson and pulled her bikini top down.
Songz would then chant “T***ies in the Open” a couple of times. Then the woman in the video—presumably Johnson—covers up. From the demand letter:
“Ms. Johnson’s friend set up to take a picture, and you happened to be behind her. Rather than a picture, Ms. Johnson’s friend took a video. That video shows you coming up behind Ms. Johnson, ripping her bikini top from her chest-grabbing and then exposing her bare breast. Ms. Johnson immediately pulled her top back on preparing herself for another assault, that you surely delivered. As if on cue, and with intended premeditation, you further terrorized and humiliated Ms. Johnson with your degrading chant, “Titties in The Open” “Titties in The Open.” Which you chanted FOUR TIMES as if it were the chorus to one of your songs.”
In the video, it looks as though Johnson was laughing with the rest but her lawyers claim that she suffered embarrassment and “severe emotional distress.” The demand letter also cites that Johnson would later engage in self-harm and experience “other physical injuries, and damages (both economic and noneconomic).”
According to Megan Johnson’s legal team, it was Trey Songz’s Las Vegas assault case—which was dropped earlier this month—that moved her to come forward. In that case, two others came out and accused Songz of sexual assault in December 202 as well as January and February of this year.
Johnson’s lawyers are demanding $5 million to stop legal proceedings in a case that is technically over Connecticut’s three-year statute of limitations. Songz has until May 5 to give his response to Johnson’s team.
