At Impact Wrestling: Rebellion, it was a night of big changes for Impact Wrestling. We saw a new Impact Wrestling World Champion get crowned in the main event, as Kenny Omega won the champion vs. champion match to retain the AEW World Championship and claim Impacts titles. However, there was another moment on the show with potentially major implications for Impact Wrestling. That was the debut of W. Morrissey, formerly known as Big Cass in WWE.
Replacing Eric Young In Eight Man Tag Team Match
With Eric Young having suffered a torn ACL, he needed a replacement. W. Morrissey was therefore in an 8 man tag team match which saw Morrissey team with Violent By Design members Rhyno, Joe Doering & Deaner to defeat Chris Sabin, Eddie Edwards, James Storm, and Willie Mack. Morrissey being the one to win the match by pinning Willie Mack was a good sign, and now we know that Morrissey will be sticking around full time in Impact Wrestling.
Looking in the best shape of his career, it became clear that Morrissey was finally able to return to the spotlight. Morrissey has had a rough go of it with issues such as alcohol abuse and depression, with the alcohol being one of the reasons he was let go from WWE back in 2018. He put in the work and time to crush his demons, and now has a multi-year contract with Impact Wrestling, as per Fightful Select.
Will Enzo Amore Be Joining The Man Formerly Known As Big Cass?
With Morrissey now getting settled into Impact Wrestling, many went ahead and asked his old partner of Enzo Amore if he will be joining his friend. This doesn’t seem to be a plan, with Amore saying the following on social media. “Thor doesn’t need a Robin”.
Personal issues with Amore mixing DC & Marvel comics for this quote aside, it made it clear that while he supports his friend, it’s time to see what Morrissey can do on his own. Prior to leaving WWE, he had two excellent matches with Daniel Bryan, showing skills that could very well make him a star now that he’s back in the spotlight.
