I’m a hardcore wrestling fan, by which I mean I’m a hardcore fan of wrestling... but I also have nothing against hardcore wrestling! I’ve been watching since 2006, back when I was 12 years old. In that time I’ve fervently followed WWE, TNA, ROH, Lucha Underground and others. Today I’m most passionate about NXT, New Japan and especially AEW! You could call me a modern wrestling savant but I know my old school stuff as well... I’ll be your huckleberry all night long.

So the word is that SmackDown may be getting a new stage when it comes to Fox in October. Or rather, an Attitude throwback kind of stage. A means of punching up the look of the show, you could say. That’s right. The time may finally be upon us. We may well be about to see the return of a legend, much bigger than Hulk Hogan. An icon far beyond the likes of Sting. A star that would put The Rock to shame. A phenom who even Undertaker must refer to only in awed tones and hushed whisper. And indeed,…

Earlier this year, it was announced that WWE would finally return to Madison Square Garden. The arena the original WWWF basically grew up in will host Raw and SmackDown tapings once again. This will be their first broadcast emanating from MSG since a Network special in October of 2015. And it will be the first time either Raw or SmackDown have aired from the historic arena since November of 2009. It was a pretty renowned show last time, and an important one in hindsight as well. It was the show where Kofi Kingston took a big plunge, diving off a…

Becky Lynch and Natalya are of course set to compete for RAW Women’s Championship at SummerSlam 2019. This past Monday on Raw, Natalya brought up that she’d like to challenge Becky to a submission match but felt she would not accept it, so there wasn’t any point. That’s of course silly nonsense, with Becky being more than up to it. Today the stipulation has been made official. So when Becky Lynch defends the RAW Women’s Title against Natalya, the match can only end by submission. These two women are of course both known for their submission holds. Becky Lynch has…

After a fair bit of speculation and various reports, and likely WWE’s own hesitance and confusion, WWE Crown Jewel 2019 has now been confirmed to take place on Thursday, October 31st. Like last year, the event will take place at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. No word yet on what’s planned for the show or if women will be allowed to compete this time, which they were reportedly still trying to make happen as late as the day of the show back at Super Show-Down. Personally I’ve been of the assumption that Dolph Ziggler will be…

Brock Lesnar is the WWE’s top champion. He’s being presented as an unstoppable beast. The story revolves around Lesnar’s willingness to take the title and sit at home with it rather than defend it on a regular basis. We’re heading into a major pay-per-view where the #1 babyface will seek to end the reign of terror that is Brock Lesnar. If you’re a historian looking back at this years after the fact, can you tell which year this article is being written in? Which month? Which PPV? How about which babyface we’re referring to? Brock Lesnar initially made his return…

So, recently Hulk Hogan appeared on the Steve Austin Show, a show hosted by Steve Austin believe it or not. During this podcast stay he brought up the old days of the WWF, when Vince McMahon had first brought him in to become WWF Champion. This of course led to unparalleled success for Hogan and the WWF. But according to him, it almost didn’t happen. The WWF’s current figurehead Bob Backlund had already dropped the title to the Iron Shiek to setup the Hulkster’s title win. That of course took place on January 23rd, 1984. But according to Hulk Hogan,…

– NXT Superstar and former MMA stalwart Matt Riddle got to throw the first pitch for the Tampa Bay Rays vs. Miami Marlins baseball game this weekend. He was no doubt excited after this, and went on to have an altercation the Rays mascot, Raymond. Raymond appears to be among the ‘ambiguous monster’ echelon of mascots, a very furry creature. He’s also seemingly an accomplished athlete in his own field, judging by the championship title belt that he was boasting on the day. Matt Riddle, always one with a keen eye for gold, set his sights on that very title.…

AAA TripleMania XXVII is in the books, and it was a night with a fair few news stories. 2-Time UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez made his wrestling debut, surprisingly wearing a mask, and impressed many with his athleticism. Blue Demon Jr. defeated Dr. Wagner Jr. in a battle of legit legends, forcing the latter to shave his head. But as far as the company’s future plans go, maybe the most significant regards to Kenny Omega. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and current AEW figurehead laid out a challenge to AAA Mega Champion Rey Fenix. Fenix of course quickly accepted, so…

I remember when TNA was hot, and also back when they were called TNA, one of the little things they loved to do was have commercials play during Raw. Always seemed like a smart enough move, made sense and was likely fun to do as a means of sticking in Vince’s craw. He had to have hated it, regardless of whether TNA itself was ever all that threatening to him. I wouldn’t be surprised to see AEW follow suit as we get closer and closer to their weekly tv show debuting on October 2nd. Jim Ross has actually stated in…

On this past episode of NXT, Fandango made a surprise appearance, rescuing partner Tyler Breeze after he was being assaulted by the Forgotten Sons. With TakeOver emanating from Toronto a week from Saturday, and Breeze being NXT’s most prominent Canadian, I suspect a match between the two teams will be set for next week’s episode of NXT. (NXT episodes the week after a TakeOver are always filmed in the hour or so before the event proper takes place.) And this is not just a one-off deal. Just like his partner, it would appear that Fandango is back in NXT to…
