Shorty G takes on Sheamus soon. Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the coverage of tonight’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown!
Backstage, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro are fuming over what just happened, with Shinsuke losing the WWE Intercontinental Championship. An interviewer comes up to them and he rails on her. In the ring, Elias strums his guitar to interrupt them. He claims that nobody wants to hear what he has to say. Sami yells at him to shut up and wants everyone in the arena to shut up. Elias tells him to go ahead but he gets a few words in before the strumming resumes. They repeat this bit a couple of times. Sami tells Cesaro to take care of this situation.
Elias poses in the ring, introduces himself and says that we are on the road to WrestleMania. Notes that Cesaro is apparently on his way out, but he wrote a song and it’d really help him out if everybody clapped along. But of course, Cesaro has theme music and so it comes on before he emerges, Elias didn’t think of that I suppose.
He enters the ring and they start brawling, Elias takes advantage with a big clothesline, running high knee sends Cesaro to the outside! Elias goes to the top rope! But Cesaro backs away, up the ramp. Elias standing tall. We then see a vignette for Sheamus and Shorty G. Sheamus making his dramatic entrance when Shorty attacks him from behind, taking him by surprise! A commercial break later and the match is on.
Shorty G vs. Sheamus
We come back to see that Sheamus has been in control since the match began in the commercial break. But Shorty counters with a monkey flip that takes Sheamus over the top rope, to the floor! Runs off the apron with a crossbody but he gets caught – countered into a Regal Roller! Sheamus pulls him into the ring, hits Wade Barrett’s old Wasteland finish. Takes him onto his shoulders for an inverted variation of that. Sheamus pulls him up but Shorty fights back with some vicious chops and headbutts, hits the ropes but gets clipped by an axe handle shot. Shorty rolls out, hot shot! Drags him to the bottom rope for forearms and headbutts! Goes up top, Missile Dropkick! Charges for the Rolling Liger Kick! Up top, gorgeous Moonsault for the nearfall! Sheamus puts a stop to his momentum with an Irish Curse backbreaker, charges for the Brogue Kick and that’s that.
Winner: Sheamus
Yeah, the Irishman is almost definitely being setup to be Roman’s last opponent before he goes after the Fiend.
