It’s Monday. You know what that means. That’s right, Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here for another night of coverage for WWE Raw! What little we currently know about what’s going down on tonight’s edition of the longest running weekly episodic action adventure soap opera/anime for rednecks television show in history is fairly interesting to say the least. So let’s put a stop to run-on sentences and a start to this preview!
First up, we have a segment that seems quite ways in the making…
Rusev and Lana are finally getting a divorce, live on Raw.
Not for real of course, atleast I sure hope they didn’t trick them into signing actual legal papers here. I honestly don’t feel like I can totally put that past Vince but…
Regardless, barring shenanigans – and c’mon, when do you ever see shenanigans during a big promoted Raw segment? – the two are indeed set to finalized a divorce in front of the world. This comes off the back of months of taunting, tormenting, open cheating, violent assaults, several restraining orders and a handful of arrests. Suffice to say, it’s somewhat overdue for Rusev and Lana to have a legal separation here.
This feels somewhat unprecedented to me, atleast off the top of my head. We’ve certainly had married couples split in the past and divorce off-screen, but I can’t recall an actual divorce segment like what’s being advertised here. In a weird way it’s appropriate, given how many televised weddings WWE have done in that ring in the past. Finally we see the other side of the coin, I suppose.
I assume it’ll be similar in setup to a contract signing, but perhaps with a lawyer present to explain all the details, who gets what… probably some embarrassing revelations left to throw out there. Who knows, maybe a stipulation for a future match got snuck in there?
The odds of this going on without a hitch are completely nil of course, but just when and how things break down is up for debate. Do they end up making this official before all’s said and done?
