In a post to his Instagram account, WWE legend and Hall of Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart announced he has skin cancer.

His announcement came with a declaration of using more sunscreen and for us to look after or health.
“Goal for 2020 and beyond: wear more sunscreen! Basal cell carcinoma removal scheduled soon. Another opportunity to remind everyone to look after your health and #getchecked.”
The outpouring of love from fans and fellow wrestlers is heartwarming, and shows the effect he’s had on everyone’s lives and careers.
There’s little doubt he’ll attack this like he did every goal he’s had in life and we wish him the best. While nothing is guaranteed when dealing with cancer, it’s good he caught this early. We’re sending him our best wishes and hopes.
You got this, Bret.
The Hart Foundation
We always hear about the Road Warriors, Demolition, the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express, and other deserving tag team, but rarely does the Hart Foundation seem to enter the conversation despite their many accomplishments.
They dominated other dominate tag teams, told awesome stories in the ring, and gave some of the best interviews around. They were a calm hurricane waiting to be unleashed on their competition as their distinctive styles meshed perfectly. Bret was the methodical member that wore down their competition with relentless precision, while Jim was the power and maniacal side of the partnership.
What Bret and his brother-in-law, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, had went beyond friendship. They were family and remained that way even after Bret went into a solo career. They were always professional in and out of the ring and set the bar high for everyone else. For that, they deserve to be remembered as two of the greats to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there’ll ever be
While he used this as a wrestling motto, it’s also a way of life. No one can doubt his work ethic and what it’s meant to a generation of fans and wrestlers.
He had an incredible safety record in the ring that Bret’s taken pride in, and rightfully so, throughout his career and afterwards. It’s just one of the things that made him special.
He was a complete package as he worked his way to being the hottest wrestler on the planet in the 90s before heading to WCW where a misplaced mule kick by Goldberg that essentially ended his wrestling career.
Bret Hart’s often been criticized for taking the business too seriously, especially after the Montreal Screwjob, but that’s what made him so awesome. And frankly, it’s the type of mentality we need more of when it comes to what we do in general.
If more of us took that approach, imagine what we could achieve?
Whether we liked him or not, he’s always been a good role model and has given us some of the best memories we could ask for.
Besides, who else could make pink and black look so awesome?
