The marquee match for WWE Worlds Collide was Imperium from NXT UK facing off against Undisputed Era from NXT. The two dominant factions have been sending shots across the ocean during the build. Adam Cole & The Undisputed Era mauled WALTER following his title defense at NXT UK Takeover Blackpool, and Imperium would get revenge by costing Undisputed Era the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. These were the first two shots, and the third and final would come early in the match, at the expense of Alexander Wolfe.
Alexander Wolfe And His Injury
Just as the match was starting to pick up in terms of pace, we would see Roderick Strong & Bobby Fish deliever a tag team maneuver to Alexander Wolfe, with a kick from Fish landing hard right on the jaw of Wolfe. He would flop down to the mat in a lifeless manner, with a thousand yard stare. Thankfully referee Drake Wuertz recognized this quickly, as being a former winner of the CZW Tournament of Death, he knows when someone is hurt. He would yell ‘ARM’ as he went down to count the pinfall, prompting Bobby Fish to tuck his arm under Wolfes shoulder, giving a reason to break the pinfall and check Wolfe. They would remove Wolfe from the match-up to check his condition. It would later be announced it was officially a four on three match. Despite this, Imperium would simply fight harder and end up with the victory.
Thanking The Medical Staff
It seems like it will be a minor injury, with Alexander Wolfe taking to Twitter to thank Drake Wuertz and the WWE medical staff for putting his safety first, despite him feeling like he could have finished the match on his own. It is a shame he missed out on a chance to showcase his ability on a huge stage, but it is better for him to not work hurt, and it ending up like the situation involving Kairi Sane at the TLC PPV. There is a certain level of pride someone can get out of working through being injured, but there is no pride in early retirement.
