One of the best stories in All Elite Wrestling is that of the Dark Order. They are a cult who preys on the beaten down and defeated members of the world, and the AEW Roster. They first seemed to be lead by Evil Uno and his tag team partner Stu Greyson. However, as time has went on, it seems there is a bigger name behind it all. Numerous names have been teased as ‘The Exalted One’, from Marty Scurll to Matt Hardy to Raven, fans have no idea who the Exalted One could be. Another tease has been made, through a tweet from Evil Uno.
Evil Uno Teases Lance Archer As The Exalted One
The tweet was rather simple on the surface, yet fans who have been following a certain NJPW star immediately knew who was being referenced. The tweet stated “Everybody lives. Everybody dies. The Exalted One is near. The Exalted One arrives.” This is a typical cryptic tweet on the subject, with the focus on “Everybody Dies” which was the catchphrase of Lance Archer. Archer left NJPW following his loss of the IWGP United States Championship back at Wrestle Kingdom 14. His contract was up, and AEW reportedly made him an offer to join them. Archer has been teasing all the options on social media, and drumming up hype for wherever he makes his new home. With AEW as a strong option, he very well could debut for them soon.
Would Lance Archer Work As A Faction Leader?
While Archer is a fantastic worker and has a very intimidating look, he has always been a follower when it comes to factions. He was a long standing member of Suzuki-Gun in NJPW, with him often serving as one half of their signature tag team in ‘Killer Elite Squad’ alongside Davey Boy Smith Jr. Archer branched off into singles in 2019, having impressive runs in the New Japan Cup and G1 Climax before beating Juice Robinson for the vacant IWGP United States Championship. He would lose the belt to Jon Moxley at Wrestle Kingdom 14, in a brutal Texas Deathmatch. Despite a strong singles showing, and a history of being involved in a major faction, Archer doesn’t fit the vibe of someone who would lead a cult.
It feels like AEW will be the likely home for AEW, but this might just be another red herring to mislead viewers into seeing who is truly behind this faction. Who do you think is The Exalted One? Let us know in the comment section down below.
