AEW (All Elite Wrestling) has proven to be a creative hotbed for wrestlers and fans alike as they’ve brought back excitement we’ve been craving for some time. They’ve now taken to adding signing talent to their growing list of creativity by hinting at signing Matt Hardy on AEW’s twitter.

“Made from the voice of hopelessness
And from time spent away with the shadows
This is what it took for me to arrive
The calling…
“Hello?
Are you there?
Ready &waiting
Dark Order Welcomes me
You are here”
What’s really cool here is the first letter of each line spells out MATT HARDY, and it appears our speculations may have become predictions.
When will he arrive?
Fans have been wondering this after being teased last week and Matt not appearing on Wednesday’s Dynamite. While we can expect him at anytime, it’ll probably be to ignite a feud and take the Dark Order to the next level.
Currently, the two top factions are the Elite and Inner Circle, but with Kenny Omega and Adam Page holding the AEW Tag Team Championship for the Elites and Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle being goldless, it lack the umph it had a couple of weeks ago.
This doesn’t mean they’re not going to put on a great rivalry, but the AEW World Championship was the glue holding the Inner Circle together and giving them relevance.
In the coming weeks, we can expect the Inner Circle to continue feuding with Jon Moxley and Dustin Rhodes, but the main focus of the Elites will probably be the Dark Order, and here’s why.
Chris Daniels and Adam Page are the keys
I’m a firm believer that Daniels was going to be the original secret leader of the Dark Order, but Matt Hardy wanting out of WWE changed those plans. Now, Daniels will remain their focus for refusing to join, but he’ll face a different, unexpected opponent.
“Hangman” Adam Page has been at odds with the Elite for some time, saying he tried to quit a while back but they wouldn’t let him. It’s safe to say the tag team championship is probably the only thing keeping him with them, and if that’s gone, he’s gone.
Here comes the heel turn.
While the Elites try to help Daniels, Matt Hardy will appear and approach Page. Matt’ll say he understands what Page is going through, citing how he was forgotten and tossed aside (WWE creative is great muse fodder) and the two will start to form a bond. Matt may also claim he’s been the leader all along, playing into the old nWo storylines with Eric Bischoff in WCW.
Of course, Omega and the rest will try to intercede, but Page could become Matt’s right hand man, establishing them as the top heel stable and a viable tag team threat.
Involved in all of this would be the tag team titles, and they’ll be separated as Page finally leaves the Elites and possibly tries to bring Omega with him.
If he fails, they’ll still defend their titles as Page is stuck between two worlds. When they eventually lose them, possibly though Dark Order intervention, the falling out happens and Page finally turns on the Elites and joins the Dark Order.
This will open the door for Daniels and Omega to team up and start a feud with Hardy and Page as they all chase after the tag championship.
This is all pure speculation, but it sounds reasonable given the seeds AEW has been planting over the last few months for a Page heel turn and possible feud with Omega. Matt Hardy joining could be the elixir that allows the Dark Order to become a legitimate threat and rise to the next level.
Plenty of possibilities for them to play with if they do sign Matt Hardy.
Another is Brodie Lee (formerly Luke Harper) will sign and be Matt’s right hand, but that doesn’t feel right. At least, not yet. Now, if Lee does sign and he teams up with Moxley, that could be an interesting and dangerous combo for a previously weak tag team division.
What do you think will happen? Assuming Matt signs, will he join Dark Order?
