On the February 19th edition of AEW Dynamite, fans were wowed by the presence of Jeff Cobb. He was brought in as a one off, with the role of a hired hit-man for Chris Jericho to inflict pain on Jon Moxley. The ensuing match was incredible, and brought out some of the technical prowess and stiff strikes fans saw from their previous encounter as part of the G1 Climax in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Despite being brought in as a one off guest, he still loss in a way that maintained his badass aura, with Moxley catching him with a crafty rollup after a superplex attempt.
Jeff Cobb Is Still Talking With AEW Owner Tony Khan
In the media scrum following AEW Revolution, Tony Khan was taking questions from the media. One of these questions was about if Jeff Cobb will be joining AEW at this time. “Jeff and I are still talking, but Jeff is not exclusively signed anywhere at this point, but I really like Jeff and would love for Jeff to come back. He did an awesome job as I expected, he was tremendous, and I really like Jeff.” was the response that was given.
The news that Jeff Cobb received a contract offer that would allow him to still take dates elsewhere would make sense. With Cobb not wanting to be stuck in one place, he might even get a per-appearance style deal that will see Cobb come to AEW on occasion for matches. With Tony Khan himself being high on him as a performer, and talks ongoing, we should see Cobb pop up again.
Still Working With Ring Of Honor
Despite his contract with ROH having ended near the start of the year, he is still making appearances for them, including last night. He competed at the ROH Gateway to Honor pay-per-view, losing in a four-way won by Dalton Castle that also included Kenny King and Tracy Williams. Where he isn’t exclusive to any one company, we won’t see a place like ROH, NJPW, or AEW put a title on him, but rather he will be used to put on some fantastic matches and make the contracted workers look great in the process.
