On this weeks episode of AEW Dynamite, we would see one of the biggest legends in all of wrestling make his presence felt. This was Jake Roberts, who would interrupt Cody Rhodes and show that he is still one of the best talkers in all of wrestling. He said that he had a new client, and they will be coming for Cody and his spot in AEW. It was a simple promo done by a master, and has everyone buzzing on who this client will be.
Brodie Lee As Jake Roberts Protege
The leading theory is that his client will be the man formerly known as Luke Harper. With Brodie being rumored to have signed with WWE and set to debut soon, he is the most likely option. One of the most intimidatingly weird wrestlers in the world today, the only aspect of wrestling that Brodie doesn’t have down perfectly is that he isn’t a great talker. He would always be silent in WWE, with Bray Wyatt serving as his mouthpiece.
Having a manager like Jake Roberts makes that flaw a non-issue. He can just stand there wild eyed and crazy, while Roberts delivers sermons that would make Seth Rollins blush. It would help to establish Brodie as a big deal instantly, and combined they would be the complete package.
Brodie is the only possible option that makes sense given rumored AEW signees. Matt Hardy is someone who doesn’t need a mouthpiece to speak for him, and Jeff Cobb already has ties to the Inner Circle.
Legends As Managers
One aspect that AEW has already mastered is finding great on screen roles for legendary talents like Jake Roberts. Alongside Tully Blanchard with Shawn Spears & Arn Anderson with Cody Rhodes, we are seeing some of the best of a bygone era applying their knowledge to younger stars.
This is a perfect way to use stars that people have nostalgia for, without making them your world champion. We could also see someone like Chris Jericho make this transition once his in-ring career winds down, and Christopher Daniels is arguably already there with SCU.
Who do you think is going to be revealed as Jake Roberts client? Are you happy to see Roberts back on TV in 2020 as a manager? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
