Another episode of AEW Dark is being uploaded to YouTube tonight, the latest show from All Elite Wrestling. In his first singles match in AEW, the indy legend Colt Cabana takes on everyone’s second favorite Librarian Peter Avalon tonight. I don’t mean to bum anyone out but I do feel compelled to state a fact; this show may well be the last regular wrestling event we see for a little while. That is to say, a wrestling event with fans… this show was taped last Wednesday and things were quite a bit different back then to say the least. Hopefully normalcy will be restored soon and this will all be a memory before long. Colt Cabana vs. Peter Avalon
Colt Cabana is a name known far and wide among hardcore wrestling fans. If I’m being honest, it’s actually a little ridiculous that he hasn’t been signed to a major wrestling promotion for such a long span in his career. Perhaps it’s somewhat by choice but still, he’s regularly among the biggest names on the free agent list. Of course he was actually under contract to Ring of Honor for quite a while but now he’s got a foray into the national spotlight for the first time since his short-lived WWE run as Scotty Goldman back in 2009.
He came in with a nice bit of fanfare, coming out in the Revolution Buy-In in his hometown of Chicago to help thwart the Dark Order’s post match attack. He would go on to debut in an Atomicos tandem with SCU where he got the victory over them as well. Now, he makes his first singles foray in AEW and he has a much less tense battle to deal with tonight. Peter Avalon is basically the Glass Joe of AEW, anyone can beat him. He’s actually in a BTE feud with Brandon Cutler where they both knock the other for their winless records.
In the interest of full disclosure, I can’t really make a prediction for this one because BTE actually spoiled the result! Granted, the reason they felt okay with doing that probably had a lot to do with the fact that, well, it’s kind of a foregone conclusion anyway…
