When it comes to AEW and their ridiculous gimmicks, few top The Librarians. Peter Avalon & Leva Bates have been annoying the undercard and crowds since the start of AEW, with them being a fixture of AEW Dark. Despite the gimmick being awful, they are two talented workers and have been doing their best with the role they have been given. AEW saved The Dark Order from being a joke, and while they couldn’t save The Nightmare Collective, The Librarians are on their way to finally working.
The Librarians Are Living The Gimmick
While they can’t seem to find a win in the ring, with Peter Avalon having never won a match in AEW and Leva Bates being massacred by Big Swole, they are using their preaching of knowledge for good. They held a free appearance for the children of Salt Lake City, when they popped up for a local kindergarten to read some books to the children. This is both a great thing to do for publicity with AEW, and a great potential use of under-card talent. It’s unclear if Peter Avalon was berating small children, as it would be rude to steal MJF’s gimmick, but their goal was always to preach literacy, and starting kids with that young is great. Between this and the Elite’s children books, AEW is doing great in this regard.
Are They To Become Mystery Solvers?
While reading to small children is great, it won’t get them over as wrestlers. However they have been starting with another angle that could work. In a short video posted to the official AEW Twitter account, Bates & Avalon took to the library to search for clues on who the Exalted One of The Dark Order is. This was very reminiscent in tone to the very popular Fashion Files skits WWE ran in the past. Having fun video series like this for social media is an excellent way to build characters. Turning these two into goofy detective like characters trying to solve mysteries in a Scooby Doo like manner would help a ton in getting people behind them.
Do you think Peter Avalon & Leva Bates can solve the Mystery of The Exalted One before he is officially revealed? Will this series help save the gimmick? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
