Dustin Rhodes Raises The Stakes For His First Round Match In AEW Tournament

When it comes to the AEW tournament to name the first ever TNT Champion, here is no one with more experience than Dustin Rhodes. He will be remembered as one of the best to ever lace up a pair of boots, and one of the most entertaining when he finally retires. His in-ring work as of late has been impeccable, so many thought retirement was far off for Rhodes, but could it be much closer than expected?

Dustin Rhodes Is Putting Everything On The Line In This Tournament

In a pre-release clip of from the upcoming ‘Road To’ video for the next episode of AEW Dynamite, Dustin Rhodes had left a message for his brother Cody. “As you know, I soul search every f*cking week, I’m always asking can I still do this. So my soul searching has lead me to this. This TNT tournament is the most important thing I’ve done since wrestling you at Double or Nothing. Hands down. To be the be first TNT champion means every fricking thing you can possibly imagine to me. So one of the things I really want to discuss with you and really you like to talk to you about instead of texting you this or voice mailing you this. Okay, so this Kip Sabian guy is no joke. If I cannot beat that son of a b*tch, I will retire.”

This has instantly raised the stake of his upcoming match with Kip Sabian, and has made it a must see affair as it could be the last match he ever has.

Should He Beat Kip, Can He Survive Lance Archer?

Provided Kip Sabian doesn’t get the upset win and end the career of Dustin Rhodes, he will then be faced with Lance Archer in the semi-finals. After Colt Cabana had to be scraped off the mat after his loss to Archer, Dustin could suffer an even worse fate due to his family connection to Cody Rhodes. We all know Archer wants to get to Cody, and if he gets to brutalize his older brother along the way, it will just make it all the sweeter when he finally gets his hands on the golden goose of AEW, Cody Rhodes.
